The November 22, 2008 KNUST Alumni Association of North America’s sponsored

inauguration event in Chicago, USA was a success. The KNUST Alumni

Association of North America has been in existence since its inauguration in

Washington, D.C in 1999. As part of its membership recruitment strategies the

association recently undertook a membership drive in Chicago area. This led to the

inaugural ceremony of the Midwest and Central KNUST Alumni Group in Chicago,

Illinois. Overseeing the inaugural event were three members of the National

Executives. They were Prof. Samuel Evans Adunyah, National President, Dr. Joe

Conduah, National Vice President and Dr. Akwasi Anyanful, National Treasurer.

The event was Co-chaired by Professors Samuel Akainyah and Elizabeth Afriyie,

who are both alumni members and established residents of Chicago. In his

keynote address, Prof Adunyah reminded the alumni who were present that; their

key roles include strengthening the overall academic developments of their

alma mater, KNUST. He also reminded the alumni of the role of the association

in promoting the professional growth and development of its members and their

dependents. The highlight of the event was the election and swearing in of

the first executive members of the Midwest and Central Regional KNUST Alumni

Group based in Chicago. The new executives are Mr. Bismarck Yaw Asiamah

(President), Mr. Peter Danso (Vice President), Mr. Henry Domi (Secretary), Ms. Linda

Osafo (Treasurer) and Mr. Dunstan Banafoe (aka Nii Quaye) (Publicity

Officer). The national executive gave the newly elected Midwest and Central Region

Executive a full mandate to develop dynamic and effective strategies to expand

and sustain the membership of the association. The newly elected executive

was also advised to work effectively with the national executive towards

achievement of the overall goals of the association. The association, which is a
