KNUST takes action to restore discipline on campus

Kumasi, Oct. 17, GNA - The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), in Kumasi is reviewing all guidelines for student activities in order to provide safeguards and ensure stringent observance of discipline on campus.

The move is to forestall a recurrence of nasty incidents and acts of indiscipline within the student body and the university in general. These were contained in a press statement signed by the Registrar of the University, Mrs Quashie Sam in reaction to the alleged assault on a female artist, Mzbel by a group of students during the Art Society Week celebration of the College of Art of the University on October 1, this year.

The statement said the University had learnt with shock and dismay, the unfortunate incident and that the authorities had already started investigation into the matter to bring the perpetrators to book and sanction them accordingly.

It assured the public that the University authorities were committed to ensuring the security and safety of all its guests and called for co-operation from the public.

The statement said the authorities condemned acts of indiscipline on the part of the students and expressed their deepest regret to the artiste and all those who might have suffered as a result of the acts. 17 Oct. 05
