KNUST to ensure confidentiality of documents

Kumasi, May 27, GNA - The authorities of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), has directed its Financial and Stores Regulation Unit to ensure that all printing works of the University were done by the University's Printing Press. Professor Kwasi Kwafo Adarkwa, the Vice-Chancellor, said the directive w as aimed at enhancing the confidentiality of documents and security of other

stationary especially letter-heads and examination papers. He was inaugurating the refurbished Print House and modern Printing Machines for the UPP in Kumasi.

The ultra-modern machines include an image setter, two colour MOZPS

printing machine, MO colour printing machine, a digital guillotine and stitching machine. The refurbishment and the machines cost the University GH¢350,000. It was the first time since its establishment in 1960 that the printing press has seen any rehabilitation. Professor Adarkwa said he was hopeful that with the acquisition of the state of the art machines, the University was now in a better position to

deliver quality print work on competitive and cost effective basis. He urged the management to evolve training programmes to help more of th e staff to efficiently handle the machines.

Mr Michael Afrifa Darko, Manager of the Printing Press, said the new machines would augment the existing ones to strategically take care of th e three major areas of print production including pre-press, production and

post-press. Professor Daniel Ohene-Adu, Chairman of the Management Committee of the Printing Press, stated that management was working around the clock to employ experienced hands to replace the retired employees.
