The Knights and Ladies of St. John International of St Anne Commandery, #795 and Ladies Auxiliary# 669 at, Teshie in Accra, have embarked on their annual charity project dubbed 'Joy to the Child.'

The group, as part of their activities, which came off a fortnight ago, presented plastic chairs and assorted items to the children's ward of the Ledzokuku Krowor Municipal Assembly (LEKMA) Hospital.

Amidst singing of choral music, they interacted with children and staff of the hospital, and extended the joy and excitement to other units.

Sir Knight Joseph Danquah, President of the Commandery, said the gesture was to put smiles on the faces of the children and encourage the staff to keep up with their diligent task.

He said the group, as part of its mission, would continue to seek the welfare of children and the less privileged through similar projects.

According to Sister Matilda Shika Foli-Armah, first Vice President of St. Anne Ladies Auxiliary, the group decided to reach out to the ward upon realising that the children on admission lacked enough chairs.

"LEKMA hospital is a district hospital which we normally visit. When the decision was taken to carry out a charity project, I could not think of any other place than the children's ward," she said.

She praised members of the association and was hopeful that the support would aid the healing process of the sick children.

Caroline Anum, the nurse in charge of the children's ward expressed appreciation to members of the association, adding that the items would contribute to the well-being of the children.

The items included soft drinks, biscuits, candies, tins of milk, among others.
