The Savannah Consultative Forum moderated by Lepowura MND Jawula has distributed some items to the Kayayei Community in Madina.
In view of the COVID-19 pandemic, various stakeholders of the different geographical areas of Ghana and across the globe are making efforts to protect their people alongside government interventions.
The Savannah Consultative Forum which is made up of Professionals, Academicians, Members of Parliament (MP’s), Ministers, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MDCE’s), Sector Directors, Traditional Chiefs, Gonjaland Youth Association (GLYA) Executives as well as placed senior citizens from Gonjaland decided to put in place strategies for the control of the pandemic in the Savannah Region hence contributing money to buy the items.
The items bought and donated by the Savannah Consultative Forum included Food , Water and Toiletries.
This follows a similar action where items including 14 Veronica buckets with metal stands, 45 Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), 70 liquid soaps, 70 paper towels, 7,000 pairs of hand gloves to the 7 Municipal and Districts of the Savannah Region, totalling GHc15,120, were distributed on Thursday 2nd April 2020.
The Donation to the Kayayei community was lead by Queen Boresah Fantevie a Women and Child's Right advocate and Co-Founder of Africa Rights Initiative International ( ARI).
As Queen ( Nkligiwurche)of Yagbon and the Women's Coordinator of Savannah Consultative Forum, she stated that the welfare of every Gonjalander/ Savannarian in this critical era is of great importance to the forum, hence the need to reach out to all within or out of the region.
She seized the opportunity to educate the Kayayei on COVID-19 in the Gonja language.
She also gave a few lessons on Adolescent Reproductive Health Issues and admonished that they all take good care of themselves to avoid unwanted pregnancies in these trying times.
