Residents of Keta Municipality including the thirty-three (36) states of Anlo and its environs in the Volta Region can now heave a sigh of relief with an assurance their needs would now be met with the rebirth of the Keta Constituency Development Association to Kecoda Foundation.

The Keta Constituency Development Association was established in 1996 by Mr. Jim Fugar, Mr. C.Y. Tay and Hon Dan Abodakpi, the former Member of Parliament (MP) of Keta Constituency to lessen the plight of the disadvantaged, and agenda which will also bring about development in the Municipality. But unfortunately the once vibrant association has lost its purpose to deliver somewhere in the early part of 2000 till date.

In a bid to lift up that agenda by contributing meaningfully towards the well-being and the socio-economic development of the people from the Keta Municipality and its neighboring communities and beyond, the Kecoda Foundation has been outdoored at the plush AH Hotel near East Legon in Accra on Monday 2, 2018.

Speaking at the launch, President of the Kecoda Foundation, Mr. Bill Boglo-Hedo, maintained unveiling Kecoda is the continuation of dreams of generations long born including the vision of younger ones, aimed at contributing to the socio-economic development of the people of the Keta Municipality and its adjoining communities for enhanced community wellbeing, protection of the ecosystem, preservation of customs, culture and traditions of the people and enhancement of the livelihoods.

According to him, this can only be realized through comprehensive work plan including, specific interventions at specific times of the year, drawn to ensure that locality-specific issues are given the needed attention they deserve.

While commending the founding fathers of the erstwhile Keta Constituency Development Association for their efforts which brought about some level of development to the Keta Municipality, he quickly acknowledged the Awoamefia of Anlo Traditional Area, Torgbui Sri III for his support leading to the formation and the launch of Kecoda Foundation.

Mr. Boglo-Hedo, who doubles as an entrepreneur and a politician also called for a minute of silence to be observed in memory of the late Ms. Fidelia Nasser, an illustrious daughter of Anlo state and a devout member of the struggle in the development of Keta. Until her demise, Ms. Nasser has held various top positions in the Keta Constituency including the former Assembly Member of the Afiadenyigba Dziehe Ablame local area, President of Afiadenyigba Ladies Development Association, Friends of India Association, an instrumental member of the proposed Female University which was under the chairmanship of Torgbui Kporku and Dr. Mrs. Fiadzigbe among others.

The colorful event which was under the patronage of the Awoamefia of Anlo Traditional Area, Torgbui Sri III, and Mr. Dan Abodakpi, former MP of the Keta Constituency also witnessed the outdooring of Torgbui Olokodzoko, talented Ewe Poet whose first performance on stage thrilled audience.

The event was graced by hosts of crème de la crème of the society, chiefs and queen mothers from the Anlo Traditional Area, members from the royal family of Torgbui Sri III, politicians, friends, family members and well-wishers.

For his part, Advisor and friend of President Bill Boglo-Hedo, Mr. Stephen Essien who conducted the launch lauded Mr. Boglo-Hedo for the initiative. He said: “This is an agenda we must all pursue to brighten the lives of the people in the society.

He averred that he was sad after watching the ‘nasty pictures’ displayed in the short documentary aired at the event on a project undertaken by the Kecoda President during his visit to “Lawoshime”, a community located within the Keta Constituency which revealed the unfortunate conditions the inhabitants of that area find themselves whenever it rains. He however concluded by asking: “Why should there be a wide gap between Keta and Accra in terms of development when the distance between both towns is barely two (2) hours of journey?.

To keep the foundation in a good stead, a fund was introduced with an appeal from donors, well-wishers and the general public to donate and support a worthy cause.

As part of activities towards a successful launch, there will be a health walk in the morning on Saturday July 7, followed by a grand durbar in the afternoon (12pm) and a thanksgiving service on Sunday July 8, 2018.

The entire event will be climaxed by a Football Gala in the afternoon at Anseco Park at Anloga in the Keta Municipality.
