-Chastises NPP for ditching him
Beleaguered Assin North New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP), Hon Kennedy Ohene Agyapong is seething with anger virtually against everyone but himself.
In his first major radio interview on Tema-based Adom Fm since his arrest and subsequent prosecution over genocidal and treason speeches he was alleged to have made on his radio station, Oman Fm, the loud-mouth politician cum businessman only stop short of saying he has quit his party, the NPP and probably, politics for good.
During his interview with sit-in host of Adom Fm’s morning show, Dzaso Nsem, Kofi Adoma last Friday; Mr. Kennedy Agyapong lashed out at the New Patriotic Party for deserting him at this time of adversity, claiming he has been left to fight his case in court all by himself.
According to the Assin North legislature, who has also been a major bankroller of the NPP campaign, particularly it’s presidential candidate, Nana Akufo Addo all these years, the NPP party has never bothered to assist or support him throughout his trial despite all the sacrifices he has made towards the party all these years, asking rhetorically whether the NPP as a party is worth dying for.
Mr. Kennedy Agyapong singled out and chastises the NPP Communications Director, Hon Nana Akomea, Gabby Asare Ochere-Darko and Mrs. Oboshie Sai-Coffie, both leading members of the party for distancing the party from his alleged inflammatory and genocidal speech, inciting Ashantis to rise up against the Gas and Ewes on his own radio network, Oman Fm last April.
He said, even the people he calls his friends in the party who he has fed and taken care of have also abandoned him in difficult times.
“I am very angry with my party the NPP at a time I needed them most, they are disowning me, even people I know and call my friends in the party, some of whom I have catered for have all turned their back on me..
“Especially, look at someone like Nana Akomea who went on air to disassociate the party from what I was alleged to have said… This is Nana Akomea, I provided employment for, yes, this Akomea, when he came out of university I employed him, gave him sustenance and today all these people have the nerves to disown me”. A charged Kennedy Agyapong lamented.
Contrasting his predicament with that of the Director of Communications at the Castle, Koku Anyidoho‘s recent ‘unfortunate’ statement over the purported dismissal of Ashanti Regional Director of ECG over the blackout at the Ghana-Lesotho world cup qualifier, Kennedy cited the huge support Koku Anyidoho had and continues to enjoy from his party members.
The Assin North MP also took a swipe at the Central Regional Minister, Madam Ama Benyiwa Doe, calling her irresponsible and uneducated, for a comment she was alleged to have made on the recent fierce ethnic clashes between indigenous Fantes and Ewe settlers at Ekumfi Narkwa in the Mfantseman District of the Central Region.
Kennedy Agyapong is currently facing treason, terrorism, and attempted genocidal charges at the Accra Fast Track High Court for allegedly declaring war on all Ewes and Gas living in the Ashanti Region and called on NPP activists in the region to attack them with machetes and cutlasses. He also threatened that security personnel could be lynched if they dare intervene to keep the peace in any ensuing bnloody political or ethnic conflict that would emante from the 2012 elections. “Today I declare war in this country, Gbevlo-Lartey and his people, IGP should know this. Voltarians and Gas in the Ashanti Region will not be spared. If anyone touches you, butcher him with a cutlass...” Kennedy Ohene Agyapong warned.
…But Akomea Says Ken is Ungrateful & a Liar
The Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party, Nana Akomea has strongly denied accusations by Assin North MP, Kennedy Agyapong that the party betrayed him when he got into trouble recently.
According to Nana Akomea, the comments by Kennedy Agyapong are very surprising after all party executives threw their unflinching support behind him when he was arrested by the Police for declaring war on his Radio station, Oman FM.
Head of Communications of the Party Nana Akomea told Joy News that such comments are misplaced and that he is surprised at the utterances of the Assin North MP.
The outspoken politician in an interview with Adom FM on Friday categorically stated that the decision to dissociate the party from his comments was not a unanimous one taken by executives of the party.
He accused Gabby Asare Otchere Darko, Oboshie Sai Coffie and Nana Akomea as the persons who masterminded a statement that sought to distance the NPP party from his inflammatory comments.
He added that he was hugely disappointed in his party for betraying and abandoning him during his trying times. Mr. Agyapong also stated that the party treated him unfairly.
He further alleged that he was more disappointed when he realised that Nana Akomea who worked for him after he completed University was part of the people who betrayed him.
Responding to the allegations, Nana Akomea told Joy News that the party never betrayed him in anyway.
“The party has never betrayed him, we have always been with him especially when he got into trouble with the Police. I was there, the party Chairman Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey was there, the General Secretary and party loyalists were all there so how have we betrayed him?”
The Okaikoi South MP added that the party was not comfortable with his comments but did all it could to support him. He also denied that the letter to dissociate the party from his comments was not from the party.
Nana Akomea further denied that he ever worked for Kennedy Agyapong after his University education
