NPP Member of Parliament for Assin Central Honourable Kennedy Agyapong has spoken for the first time about how he joined the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and how his wife dumped him.
Speaking exclusively to Philip Osei Bonsu on Ekosii Sen Tuesday afternoon, the NPP MP revealed he joined the party in 1990 in New York following which they organized series of demonstrations against former President Rawlings when he visited the States.
Mr Ken Agyapong revealed that Boakye Agyarko, now Energy Minister joined the party the same day and was appointed as the Secretary for the New York Branch.
He said he came down in 1992 to campaign for late Adu-Boahene who lost to Mr John Rawlings, after which getting a plane ticket back to America became a problem and through his wife had to mortgage one of his houses here in Ghana to enable him to get back to the States.
He disclosed that coupled with other minor issues, the decision to take that money for his plane ticket back to the States cost him his marriage.
The host did not however asked whether the NPP as an organized political party existed as at 1990, or it was by then a movement of like-minded activists fighting for the restoration of democratic rule in Ghana.
