NPP firebrand Kennedy Agyapong has called on the youth in the main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) to amass at the party’s headquarters in Accra today, Friday May 22 to demand the resignation of its national chairman Paul Afoko.

According to him, the killing of the party’s Upper East regional chairman Adams Mahama must be blamed entirely on the national chairman.

Mr Mahama died at the Bolgatanga hospital Thursday after he was showered with acid by some unknown individuals.

One person has so far been arrested in connection with the matter.

In a statement, the Assin Central MP said the youth of the party has had enough of the mismanagement from their executives.

Below are details of the statement

WE SAY ENOUGH IS ENOUGH, NPP YOUTH IS DEMANDING RESIGNATION OF CHAIRMAN AFOKO WITH IMMEDIATE EFFECT!!

I am sure majority of NPP members, Sympathisers and ordinary Ghanaians are still devastated and annoyed about the heinous and abominable killing of the Upper East Regional Chairman of the NPP, Mr Adams Mahama.

Myself, Ken Agyapong (MP for Assin-Central) and Mr Sammy Awuku, (National Youth Organiser) are calling all the Youth in NPP and Sympathisers to come out in your numbers to NPP headquarters in Accra, Asylum down, at exactly 2:00pm today Friday, 22nd May, to demand an immediate resignation of the National Chairman, Mr Paul Afoko.

All the reports and indications suggest that Mr Afoko's name will be linked to this reprehensible killing of of the U.E Regional Chairman, during and after the police investigation. This by no means, puts the name of the party NPP into serious disrepute.

We are therefore demanding that the chairman must step aside with immediately for peace to reign in the U.E region and save the face of our great party NPP. This demand is purely based on natural principles and common sense.

Other colleague MPs and some National leaders of NPP would be present to give us the needed support.

You are all cordially invited! Please come in your numbers at 2pm.

See you there!!

Signed... Ken Agyapong.
