Kennedy Agyapong: I Will Release Secrets If...

Sat, 26 Mar 2011 Source: The Herald

About two weeks ago, Mr. Kennedy Agyapong, MP for Assin North, went on Asempa FM Radio Station, suggesting that Mr. Kwesi Twum, owner of Multi-Media Group and owners of Joy FM, was involved in narcotic drugs.

This was in reaction to an allegation made on the station by one Kwabena Adjei, that Kennedy Agyapong was a Cocaine baron.

Mr. Twum instructed his lawyers to demand a retraction and apology from Mr. Agyapong or else he was going to drag him to court.

In reaction, Mr. Agyapong went on Adom FM ostensibly to offer an apology and to withdraw his remarks against Mr. Twum, but rather, in his characteristic fashion, called the lawyers of Kwasi Twum jokers, and insisted that Nana Kwabena Bobie has collected money to disparage him by linking him to the illicit drug trade.

He warned Mr. Twum, to talk to the Asempa FM presenter, Nana Kwabena Bobie or else he (Ken Agyapong) would be forced to release some damming secrets he is privy to.

Nana Kwabena Bobie, last Tuesday told the Managing Editor of this paper that he is not perturbed by the claims of the Assin North New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament. He vowed to discuss Ken Agyapong, anytime issues about him arise, although admittedly that the MP is not a serious politician.

He revealed that the day before, he had wined and dined with some three big shots of the NPP, at a restaurant in Accra who told him that the NPP MP was sinking badly.

Below is what Ken Agyapong told the host of the programme, “Dwaso Nsem,” Adakabre Frimpong-Manso, last Monday, March 21, 2011:

Your lawyers who said they are giving me 24 hours, they have got the nerve to say they are giving me 24 hours? Who are they? Are they God? Are they good lawyers? If they had listened to the accusation.

Me, I can sue Asempa, Multi-media better than what they are thinking. But you see, Kwesi Twum is somebody I like, and I respect him because of the way he carries himself.

But this boy pushed me to the wall because every day he speaks nonsense. I was expecting Kwesi Twum who owns that radio station to call him to caution him.

You allow people to go collect monies from people and come and sit there every day saying Ken Agyapong, Ken Agyapong, Ken Agyapong, drug ooo, drug ooo, and drug ooo.

You think I am not a human being? I was on my way and I was a guest speaker for Adisadel College’s 150th anniversary, when I got to Amosima just to the barrier and I started getting calls early in the morning.

I started my journey around 5am; what is it? And they said I should listen to Asempa. I tuned in, and there was this guy at the station by name Kwabena Adjei that I was a drug baron so Adakabre so many useless things that he spoke. So I asked what this is.

What does Bobbie want from me? Are your lawyers good? I asked a question that, go and ask your boss that does he know such a person? Does this suggest that he does something? What about he that persistently sit at Asempa disgracing me and in responding on the issue the next day said Kwesi Twum has made it in life (‘wabo bra’)but me have I not made it myself?

Does he know me? You that came to beg me for employment opportunity. This boy, let me tell you, if you get to Kumasi, Abusua Restaurant opposite, please let me talk.

Let me say what is disturbing me. I do not have any problem with him. Because the calls I had from people and Jones, for instance, I feel ashamed for mentioning him but I have stated my facts, and nobody can challenge me, I will no.

If he had come to court, I would have asked him a question again that you people are always mentioning my name. The woman who was working at Joy FM, and was arrested at the airport, would you say that someone working at Joy FM does drugs? No.

But if you sit on radio and Bature says because my brother -in-law has been arrested because of that I do drugs, what is, this and nobody stops this guy? Nobody can tell him anything with the nonsense he displays, do you understand?

Me I do not have problem with Kwesi Twum, but you Adakabre, if you will speak the truth, I have severally complained to you tell Kwesi Twum that what the boy is doing is bad and if he does not take care, one day the things I will say. He pushed me to the wall.

I don’t have problem with Kwesi Twum. He is a nice man. My wife has told me a lot about him when they were kids Nancy they played together. I do not have any issue with him.

Jones, personally, he is a quiet guy sitting somewhere… but that boy. They say whilst you advise the cat, then you advise ‘momoni’ (salted fish) too. You have to advise him because if he does not take care, the things I will say, you will be surprised.

But as for your lawyers they are joking. If they like, they can take me to court, but for Kwesi Twum, I am sorry for saying that because he is a fine gentleman because the people came to me to ceasefire, and that he is nice.

Am I also not nice? Me, am I also not nice? Do you know how I have swallowed the nonsense of that guy at Asempa? But they say your rasta, too, he is speaking thrash. But if someone has made it, have I also not made it?

Me that was selling PK to get where I am for you to tell me that I have not made it? Bobbie, you who has come to me for employment? If he has any issue, he should talk to him. But the lawyers, what they are saying they are joking.
