Pressure group Let My Vote Count Alliance (LMVCA) will on Friday, September 16 hold a rally at Okaishie-Drug Lane to commemorate one year after hitting the streets in demand for a fresh voters’ register.

That march on September 16, 2015 ended abruptly after police used brute force to disperse protesters. A protester Justice Adzakumah lost an eye from the ensuing commotion.

A year after the incident, the Alliance says it is organizing the rally to give “a progress report on the demand for a credible free fair open and transparent election”. “Indeed, it has been an eventful year during which LMVCA has led efforts to protect the integrity of the electoral process,” a statement issued by the Alliance said.

“These efforts have reaped significant gains, some of which will be outlined during the rally.” It said the rally will also be an opportunity to unveil its line-up of activities ahead of the December 7 polls.

Among the speakers lined up for Friday’s rally are Assin Central Member of Parliament Kennedy Agyapong, LMVCA Convener David Asante, New Patriotic Party’s Youth Oganiser Sammi Awuku, Former People’s National Convention’s Youth Organiser Abu Ramadan, National Democratic Party’s Ernest Owusu Bempah and others.
