New Patriotic Party flagbearer hopeful, Kennedy Agyapong, has outlined his vision for Ghana’s economic future, pledging to adapt the principles of the Asian Miracle to drive industrialization and development.

He explained that the Asian Miracle referred to the rapid rise of economies such as Singapore, South Korea, and Taiwan, where governments played an active role in nurturing local industries.

Agyapong noted that the growth of these companies were as a result of support given to them in the form of targeted policies, credit facilities, subsidies, and direct financial assistance.

Speaking at the National Emerging Leaders Economic Forum 2025, Kennedy Agyapong said companies that used these resources effectively were strengthened, while those that failed to deliver were replaced by better managers to ensure efficiency and results.

He stressed that Ghana could follow the same path by combining government intervention with accountability.

In his view, this approach would channel public resources toward capable entrepreneurs, prevent waste, and build industries that could compete globally.

A critical aspect of his plan is ensuring that no one treats government support as a free ride.

Beneficiaries of soft loans and other incentives would be required to deliver results, and if they failed to perform, the support and in some cases the entire enterprise would be taken away and reassigned to more competent managers.

This, he argued, would instill discipline, reward hard work, and guarantee that resources are used productively.

He concluded that Ghana possesses the talent and potential for such transformation, but it requires courage, discipline, and the determination to replicate strategies that have already proven successful elsewhere.
