"Rawlings and his family will be first to be butchered if the Kenya crisis should occur in Ghana"

These are the words of Kennedy Agyepong, NPP MP for Assin North and close confidante of NPP candidate Nana Akuffo Addo.

The loose talking NPP man was addressing party supporters assembled at the meeting hall of the Centre for National Culture Cape Coast last week when Akuffo Addo visited the central regional capital as part of his nationwide tour to express appreciation to party delegates for voting him to be the flagbearer of the party.

The Assin North MP did not only make those dangerous pronouncements but proceeded to also heap tons of insult on Prof Mills, the NDC Presidential Candidate.

The presence of media personnel created a very embarrassing situation as delegates present felt that Kennedy Agyepong’s statements constituted a veritable beating of war drums that could be highlighted by the media and portray the violent nature of the NPP.

Some of the supporters present could therefore be heard calling on the big men to stop the MP from further causing harm to the image of the party since there were media men present.

When the leadership of the NPP saw the disapproval being expressed by some supporters, the regional chairman of the party, Bootey Dankwa Smith quickly went to the microphone to rein in the MP.

Meanwhile, Akuffo Addo’s drive through the principal streets of Cape Coast drew very little attention despite the fact that he zoomed into town from the western region with a long convoy of ER registered vehicles and some metro buses that were carrying some students from Takoradi and Cape Coast Poly.

The townsfolks were largely unmoved and there was hardly any gathering of people along the route leading to Oguaahene’s palace.
