Denu (V/R), Sept. 12, GNA - Mr Kenneth William Wood, an American philanthropist, is to be conferred with a title by the Ketu District Assembly in recognition of his immense contributions to the development of the area, particularly the water sector.

Mr Wood had been captured in Mr Justice Cudjoe, District Chief Executive's address to the Assembly in May this year, as having single handedly financed the construction of 80 boreholes fitted with pumps worth billions of cedis in a number of communities in the District. The DCE emphasized that Mr Wood's unparalleled single-handed support had greatly enhanced the poor water situation in the beneficiary communities, which he said had remained a major headache to his administration.

He said it was proper to recognize Mr Wood's love for the needy in the District to further court his friendship to accelerate the area's development.

Mr Cudjoe said the Assembly had set Saturday, September 15, this year, for a special durbar to be attended by chiefs and people to install Mr Wood as the development chief of the District under a stool name yet to be made public.

He said with virtually no fresh water bodies in the District, making potable water available to the people, mainly farmers, for them to undertake their economic activities in good health, remained a critical issue for the authorities of the Assembly.
