Lieutenant Colonel I. B. Quartey, Officer commanding the RECCE regiment told newsmen the show was organised as part of activities to raise funds for the club. He said it was also to encourage the interest of riding among children of both service personnel and civilians, and the larger public. Soldiers of the squadron did a few events on horseback, but the children, stole the day's show as they exhibited their prowess in the saddle in the main events. Prizes were given to winners in the various competitions which included a raffle draw.
