The Board of Governors, Headmistress, PTA, Old Students, Staff and Students of Kinbu Senior High Technical School has officially launched the school’s upcoming Silver Jubilee celebrations and Speech and Prize-Giving Day ceremony, at the premises of the Ghana Institution of Engineers, Roman Ridge, Accra on Wednesday, 22nd March, 2017.
Under the theme: “Celebrating the Achievement of Resourcing the Nation for Development”, the anniversary celebration is scheduled to be climaxed on 18th November, 2017.
In her welcome address, the Headmistress of Kinbu Senior High Technical School, Mrs. Augustina Adjoa Owusu said, “Today, we are officially launching Kinbu at 25 years of Secondary Education and 143 years in existence. The great school was established in 1874 during the reign of Governor Rowe. Its first name was Government Boys’ School, which was popularly known as Rowe Road School. It later became Kinbu Middle Boys’ School and finally became Kinbu Senior High Technical School”.
The Chairman of Board of Governors of the school, Mr. Emmanuel Dogbotse, mentioned some of the distinguished personalities who have benefitted from the school to include:
H.E. President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo- Current President of the Republic of Ghana, Sir Emmanuel Charles Quist – First Speaker of Parliament in the first Republic, Harry Sawyer – Minister of Education during Rawlings regime, Nii Armah Ollenu – Justice and Speaker of Parliament in 1969, Nii Kwabena Bonney – Organized Ghanaians against Colonial Supremacy, Emmanuel Joseph Cobblah- First Administrator at Korle Bu in 1923.
The Chairman of the Old Boys Association of the school, Ing. Joseph Oddei called on the old students to get closer to the school so that they can see themselves as development partners to increase the human resource capacity for the nation.
“We can look across the spectrum of elements that contribute to national development and see Kinbu old students occupying senior and managerial roles, ranging from the Presidency, Creative Arts industry, Hospitality Industry, Advertising, Marketing and Promotion, Aviation, International Diplomatic circles, Manufacturing, Security Services and Engineering.
The Chairman of the occasion was Mr. Johnson Omudie, the first Headmaster of Kinbu Senior High Technical School. The short but impressive ceremony was attended by old students, former headmistresses and headmasters of the school, Heads of Senior High Schools in Accra, Teaching and Non-Teaching staff, Regional Director for Education, Metro Director, current schools and the media.
