Deputy Spokesperson for the John Dramani Mahama campaign, Beatrice Annan, has been exposed for sharing fake news about the Kintampo Waterfalls in the Bono East Region.
Beatrice Annan, who is a private legal practitioner, shared a video of a muddied waterfall purportedly filmed in 2024, which she blamed on the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP).
However, fact-check organization Dubawa has verified her claims shared via social media, which turned out to be false.
In their fact check, Dubawa indicated that the post was misleading, indicating that the video was taken in 2023 and not 2024, as Beatrice Annan claimed in her post.
“Misleading. DUBAWA’s research revealed that the video of the muddied waterfall was that of the Kintampo waterfall. It was filmed in 2023, not 2024. Anas Sabit Anas, a journalist in the Brong Ahafo region where the waterfall is located, told DUBAWA that the water is clean and clear but occasionally muddied when torrential rains occur.”
