The Member of Parliament for Bawku Central Constituency, Mahama Ayariga has entreated his colleagues in the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) and other political parties to be mindful of their utterances.

He advised politicians to inculcate the habit of putting Ghana above party politics and know the limits of politics.

The Minister of Information and Media Relations under the Mahama administration further advised NDC members not to take the country’s democracy for granted by spewing venom which will not augur well for national development.

‘We must learn to put country above party politics and know the limits of politics. Potentially harmful statements should be treated as such. We shouldn’t take our democracy for granted and we shouldn’t think that we can say anything we want and get away with it! I can make a claim to loyalty to the NDC and I have worked as hard as any of the other members. I still maintain that we have to put country before party’, Mr Ayariga told Joy FM.

His comment follows the civilian coup comment by the NDC Deputy General Secretary Koku Anyidoho.

Mr Anyidoho is set to appear in court today (Wednesday) after he was yesterday (Tuesday) charged with treason following his comments in an interview with Accra-based Happy FM that there will be a civilian coup to remove the Akufo-Addo’s government.

He said the civilian coup will be borne out of the US -Ghana military deal which was ratified by Parliament on March 24, 2018.

‘There will be a civilian coup d’etat. There will be a social revolution and the movement is starting on Wednesday,’ Mr Anyidoho said.
