Mr. Stephen Sateckla, Founder of Blood and Genotype Foundation, a non-governmental organization in health and blood matters, has advocated the need for Ghanaians to know their blood groups in order to live a healthy lifestyle.

He said knowing and understanding your blood type would enable one to choose suitable marriage partners, food, medicine and manage social relations well.

He said a research had revealed that people with blood type “O” are warriors, ”AB” are often humanitarians, ”B” are hunters and “A” are farmers.

Mr. Sateckla told the Ghana News Agency in an interview in Takoradi, on Wednesday that, his organization would undertake blood awareness campaigns across the country to sensitize Ghanaians on the need to know their blood groupings and gather data on it, aimed at promoting good health and social cohesion.

“Knowing your blood type will help you to avoid giving births to sickle cell children and manage your relations with your friends because there are some people who are very argumentative and aggressive and that can be attributed to one’s blood group”, he noted.

He said the NGO would organize health walk and blood screening in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis on December 12, this year, to enable people to know their blood type status.

“Sometimes medical doctors inquire about their clients’ blood group before prescribing certain drugs for them because there are some blood groups that are not supposed to consume certain drugs or food substances, in order to avoid health complications”, he opined.

He appealed to corporate bodies, schools, Assemblies and public institutions to support the effort of the NGO in promoting good health among Ghanaians.
