Kofi Asante's Resignation Was Long Over Due

The Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress, Baba Jamal has described the resignation of Mr. Abraham Kofi Asante as the party’s Member of Parliament for Amenfi-West Constituency, as very timely, for the party to determine its true members.

Baba Jamal told Peace fm on Thursday that, although Mr. Asante’s resignation came as a shock to the party, he was not surprised at it. According to him, Mr. Kofi Asante had exhibited certain questionable attitudes, at party functions, which made some of them at the helm of affairs become suspicious of him.

He said although Mr. Asante took a personal decision to resign, he could have consulted the people who elected him into parliament at least, even if he considered it trivial to inform party leaders.

Meanwhile the Minority Leader in Parliament Hon Alban Sumanu Kingsford Bagbin has described Mr. Asante as untrustworthy and unreliable even when he was serving as the Minority spokesman on Energy.

Mr. Bagbin’s comment has since attracted public ridicule. Some have considered them as backbiting. They described Hon. Bagbin as not being fair to Mr. Kofi Asante, who had worked with the NDC for more than a decade and is now being described as untrustworthy and unreliable.
