Berekum Chelsea striker Kofi Owusu has won the 2014-15 Premier League's Golden Boot having scored 19 goals.

The former King Faisal and Aduana Stars frontman finished one goal clear of SC Medeama's Nathaniel Asamoah, who joined Raja Casablanca in Morocco with two games to go until the season’s end, with Stephen Asare Baffour a further strike behind.

Owusu's final goal of the season came in the closing minutes of Chelsea's 2-1 win over Wa All Stars, a game in which he netted a brace—including a late penalty—and cemented his place at the top of the scoring charts.

The 24-year-old promised before the start of the season that he will score more goals to help his new club, and he has lived up to expectations, guiding them to finish third and win the individual award for himself.

“I have now gotten back my lost confidence and I know I will score a lot of goals for the team this season to achieve our target,” Owusu told Goal in January.

The Chelsea star scored six goals in the first half of the league campaign, leaving him five behind Nathaniel Asamoah, but his 13 goals in 15 matches in the second half of the season was enough to succeed Augustine Okrah, who won the diadem last season with 16 goals.

Owusu was a bench warmer last season with Aduana, scoring only one goal, but he became the first player to score a hat-trick this season against Aduana in Week 7. He is also the second player, aside from Noah Martey, to score in five consecutive games this term.

Owusu becomes only the second player from a Berekum team to win the top scorer award after fierce rivals Berekum Arsenal's striker Nana Poku scored 16 goals in the 2010-11 season to put his name in the record books.
