Koforidua Regional Hospital awards its staff

Koforidua, Dec. 20, GNA - The Koforidua Regional Hospital has

held an awards night at which it reward 37 members of staff for

dedication and excellence. Fourteen personnel of the hospital including medical officers and

labourers who had offered long and dedicated service to the hospital

for over 30 years were given awards. Seventeen other members of staff were rewarded for high

performance while six received the Medical Director's Special

awards. Speaking at the awards night at Koforidua on Saturday, the Medical

Director of the Hospital, Dr Daniel Asare, said the hospital won the

best service provider award of the National Health Insurance

Authority in the Eastern Region for this year. He said earlier in the year, the NHIA graded the hospital Grade 91A'

during the accreditation of medical facilities recognized to provide

services to the clients of the NHIA. Dr Asare explained that the awards ceremony was to show

appreciation to people who for years had sacrificed their life for the

sake of the hospital. He said the event was to inspire the staff of the hospital to give off

their best and promised that if the hospital management could always

mobilize the necessary resources and sponsorship, the event would

be organised every two years. In a speech read on his behalf, the Deputy Eastern Regional

Minister, Mr Mohammed Ahmed Baba-Jamal, appealed to the staff of

the hospital to exhibit professionalism when dealing with patients

despite the difficulties some patients sometimes presented. He assured of the determination of government to do all it could to

support health workers to deliver quality service and also better their

working conditions to reduce the attrition rate. Eastern Regional Director of Health Service, Dr Erasmus Agongo,

expressed his appreciation about the ability of the staff of the hospital

to always rise up to the occasion when there were challenges. He thanked all individuals and corporate organizations that

contributed in various ways to make the award ceremony possible. The Member of Parliament for New Juaben South, Ms Beatrice

Benice Boateng, promised to use greater part of her MP's Common

Fund to support the development of health facilities in the New

Juaben Municipality.
