Offinso (Ash), May 27, GNA - The Kokote-Abuasu Muslim community in Offinso have put up a six-classroom block, an office and a store at the cost of 330 million cedis under the Social Investment Fund (SIF) assistance.

The school block replaces the temporal and dilapidated structure of the Watania Islamic Primary School.

Mr Pambuo Karikari Prempeh, the Dome-Abuasu assemblyman, who led newsmen to inspect the project last Sunday, said the community provided building materials worth over 33 million cedis and also offered free labour.

The Offinso district assembly also contributed building materials worth over 50 million cedis towards the project.

Mr Prempeh commended the Muslim community for the interest shown towards the education of their children.

Mr Pickingson Atta Kwasi Agyemang, the acting headteacher of the school, said the next priority of the community is to put up a junior secondary school block to absorb the primary six children.

Mr Agyemang, who is the secretary of the Kokote Unit Committee, said the standard and level of education in the Muslim community has improved tremendously.

Meanwhile, the assemblyman has urged the Harper Construction Company to expedite work on the 20-seater public water closet latrine being put up at the Kokote market. 27 May 04
