Former Presidential spokesperson under the Mills administration, Koku Anyidoho has said the NDC needs rescuing ahead of the 2016 elections.

Anyidoho who is vying for the position of Deputy General Secretary of the party, is of the view that the current executives must be unseated for fresh brains to lead the party into victory in the next elections.

“We are actually on a rescue mission. In Kumasi, we are on a rescue mission. The NDC is on a rescue mission. We need to rescue the party and rescue the government.”

The former Presidential Spokesperson is contesting the incumbent Deputy General Secretary George Lawson, the former boss of the Youth Enterprise Support (YES) Fund Kojo Adu Asare and former MP for Builsa North, Timothy Awontirim.

Anyidoho earlier this week predicted a tough time for the party in the upcoming 2016 elections.

He argued that the party has lost track of the ‘Better Ghana Agenda’ and needed someone who worked closely with the late President to bring the party and the government back on track.

“I have no doubts that President Mills was loved by the party and so having served him loyally the party will also vote for me.”

The leadership of the NDC is currently vetting party members who have filed their nominations to contest various national executive positions, an exercise which started on Sunday November 30, 2014.

The party will hold its National Delegates’ Congress in Kumasi on December 20, 2014.
