Former Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Samuel Koku Anyidoho, has criticised the flagbearer of the party, John Dramani Mahama, for surrounding himself with inefficient communicators.

According to him, the inefficiency of these communicators is negatively impacting Mr. Mahama's campaign ahead of the December 7 general elections.

Koku Anyidoho, a former Director of Communications at the Presidency during the Mills administration, expressed his disappointment regarding the inefficiency of Mahama's communications team during an interview on Ghana Kasa on Accra-based Kasapa 102.5FM.

He stated that he is saddened by the fact that Mr. Mahama's communications team is failing to generate sustained discussion about him, allowing the governing party to consistently set the agenda.

"I am disheartened for the NDC; I have never seen an opposition leader sit back and let the incumbent party dictate the daily agenda. John Mahama was elected flagbearer on May 13, 2023, and Bawumia was elected on November 4, 2023. Since Bawumia's election, he has consistently set the agenda. I wonder, what kind of lazy communicators and individuals have you [Mahama] surrounded yourself with? This is utter laziness. Communication and PR are academic disciplines; it is not just about speaking English."

Koku Anyidoho also mentioned that he will make every effort to ensure that Mr. Mahama accepts the debate challenge presented by NPP flagbearer Dr. Bawumia, despite his aides suggesting that a debate is unnecessary.

"Why are you avoiding a debate? You are not infallible; you are not a saintly figure from heaven. You served as president for four and a half years and were voted out by over one million votes. John Mahama, you have a questionable track record and a 24-hour economy policy that lacks clarity.

"Bawumia is challenging you to a debate, and your spokesperson claims you will not participate. Whether you like it or not, you will debate Dr. Bawumia. I will compel Mahama to engage in a debate with Bawumia. Two things are clear; if you are not prepared for a debate, step down as our flagbearer," Anyidoho stressed.
