Managing Editor of the Al-Hajj newspaper, Alhaji Bature Iddrissu has stated that the Former First Lady and flagbearer of the National Democratic Party, Nana Konadu Rawlings is the most corrupt woman in the country.
According to Alhaji Bature, who is also a loyal sympathizer of the National Democratic Congress, Nana Konadu Rawlings is currently facing legal charges for her alleged corrupt activities.
“I am daring her to take me to court and prove otherwise. Nana Konadu is the most corrupt woman in Ghana and she is currently in court over that. Where are the Ghana National Trading Company (GNTC) properties, where are the cocoa factories and the Nsawam Cannery?” he asked on Adom FM's morning show.
The Al-Hajj editor stated the former first lady was afraid that President Nana Akufo-Addo would reopen investigations into previous allegations that Nana Konadu misappropriated state funds, particularly 31st December Movement schools that were supposed to have been built.
Alhaji Bature further alleged that the NDC founder wanted to break the party since his alleged attempts at overtaking the party’s helm and leadership had failed.
Bature opined that the reasons for Former President Rawlings’ constant jabs at the NDC is because he has realized the party no longer kowtows to his wishes and that the NDC had outgrown him.
Alhaji Bature’s comments follow some statements from Former President Rawlings’ speech at the 38th anniversary celebration of the June 4 revolution. In his speech, Rawlings blamed the NDC’s 2016 election defeat on the high levels of corruption and greed that is rife throughout the party.
Rawlings further noted that such greed and corrupt traits that are rampant throughout the party go against the founding principles upon which the NDC was built.
