As the New Year begins to take shape with calls on political leaders to ensure an incident-free election from scores of people, former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings is calling on her teeming supporters, and especially, Ghanaian women not to make economic, social or political difficulties curtail their dreams.

Mrs Rawlings, who is the founder and President of the 31st December Women’s Movement in her new year message on Xfm 95.1 said Ghanaians should look forward to a year “that can give us some hope; something to help push our dreams towards activating everything we have planned”.

Even though she conceded the previous year came with some difficulties, Nana Konadu was optimistic things will improve in 2012 “so that people’s dreams can be practicalized”.

“Have a reflective and a productive new year. We look towards a year that can give us some hope; something that will help push our dreams towards activating everything we have planned. Last year, a lot of people had their dreams curtailed based on difficulties, either economically, socially or politically. I hope that things improve so that people’s dreams can be practicalised”, the former First Lady prayed.

Focusing her attention on the Ghanaian woman, Nana Konadu, encouraged women to push themselves to the limit, despite what people might say; charging them to be courageous and bold, “and try to push your ambitions up”.

According to her, there is nothing negative about being overly ambitious, as that has led to all of the world’s inventions.

“I want to encourage women not to let anybody change what you want to be. Push yourself to the limit; there are times when women are pushing themselves up, some people will say they are over-ambitious; there is nothing like over-ambition. Ambition is good, there is nothing negative about it. If it wasn’t for ambition, we wouldn’t have mobile phones today… so ambition is good; they shouldn’t allow anybody to change them form what their ambitions are. Be courageous, be bold, and try to push your ambitions up”.
