Korle Klottey Municipal Assembly inaugurates Spatial Planning Committee

Korle klottey Municipal Assembly (KoKMA spatial committee) has officially inaugurated its Spatial Planning Committee and Technical Sub-Committee to facilitate the Spatial Planning Functions.

Pursuant to section 200 of the land use and spatial planning Act, 2016 (Act 925), the Greater Accra regional minister, Hon. Ishmael Ashitey ceremonially inaugurated some selected members of the spatial planning committees of all MMDs in the Greater Accra Region last August.

Again, section 37 of the land use and spatial planning Act, 2016, (Act 925), establishes the spatial planning committees at the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Levels to perform the spatial planning functions of all assemblies in the country.

The Committees is chaired by the Municipal Chief Executive Honorable Nii Adjei Tawiah has the Municipal Coordinating Director, Physical Planning Director, Director of Works, Development Planning Officer, head of Roads Department, Development Planning Sub-Committee Chairman, Works Sub-Committee Chairman and selected Elected Assembly members as members and institutional representatives from Environmental Protection Agency, Ghana National Fire Service, National Disaster Management Organization.

The committees will perform it core functions which include discussions of site advisory and site selection teams setup for public projects under the state lands regulations 1962 (LI 230), ensuring a vibrant physical development in the assembly in accordance with the law, attest to the preparation of the municipal spatial development framework.

The rest are; to deliberate on and approve the recommendation of the technical sub-committee, consider and approve applications for permit, verified the preparation of the structure and local plans in the municipality, provide technical services, establish conditions in relation to the various plans and monitor implementation plans, and perform any other functions the assembly will prescribe for the betterment of the municipality.

The Municipal Chief Executive, Nii Adjei Tawiah urged the members of the Committee to work with integrity and to the best of their ability in order to promote development in the Korle Klottey Municipal Assembly (KoKMA).
