The members of the committee for joint action have described Asante Kotoko and ASFG Yennega?s football match tommorrow as politically motivated strategy to thwart the WAHALA part four demonstration in Kumasi tomorrow.
Residents of Kumasi were informed yesterday that there is going to be a football match between the two clubs tomorrow at the same time the demonstration would start which is 9am.
It was also announced there would be no fees charged.
This the CJA says is being engineered by the NPP to downplay the impact of their course.
?It is pathetic a great team like Kotoko is being used? A leading member of the Committee for Joint Action, CJA, Kyeretwie Poku said this portrays the panic state finds itself in. He stated that the committee will continue to demonstrate to hold the government accountable to the people of Ghana. He said all Ghanaians have the legitimate duty to hold the government accountable in accordance with the national constitution.
Dr Opoku was speaking to newsmen at a press conference in Kumasi about the committee?s intention to stage a 4th Wahala demonstration in Kumasi. He said the decision by the Ashanti region?s police administration to resort to a court action to prevent the CJA from their scheduled demonstration is a good precedence set in the country.
According to Dr Opoku, it indicates that the police have no power to determine where how and when a group of people can organize demonstration in Ghana.
Answering questions from the media about when CJA will end the Wahala demonstrations, Dr Opoku said the demonstration will continue until the government addresses the concerns raised by the CJA. These concerns he said include the reduction of fuel prices, the fight against corruption in government and the implementation of policies that will improve the economic hardship currently facing the masses.
Touching on the laid down structures that one can use to address national issues, Dr Opoku maintained that the country?s parliament has demonstrated that it can not play its watch dog role. He said this has become more evident in the lost parliamentary vetting where the government in power used its numerical strength in parliament to endorse ministers who were faced with serious allegations, ranging from corruption to abuse of office.
Present at the press conference also included Mr Totobi Kwakye, Mr Ato Ahwoi and Ama Benyiwa Doe all executive members of CJA.
