The management of Kumasi Asante Kotoko has taken full notice of reports of isolated violent incidents at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium during last Sunday’s Kotoko-Hearts Premier League outstanding match.
We want to make it clear that, Kotoko do not endorse violence.
At no point did Kotoko sanction the acts perpetuated by the one Seidu. We unreservedly condemn Seidu’s alleged attack on the Chairman of the Greater Accra Circles Council (GARCC), Nana Kwame Dankwa, who, we met on Monday morning to ascertain exactly what happened.
While we are disappointed over the Nana Kwame incident, we state emphatically that, we have and have had no hand in any violent act undertaken by Seidu.
We encourage our supporters to be civil at league centres while pledging our support to the Ghana Police Service to deal with any fan or group of fans who take the law into their own hands.
Meanwhile, we applaud supporters of the club for their presence and backing of the team at the stadium on Sunday. We fully appreciate everything they did to cheer us throughout the game.
