Asante Kotoko finally halted their winless run when the beleaguered club beat Bechem United 1-0 at the Cape Coast Stadium on Sunday evening.
Winger Emmanuel Gyamfi put a smile of relief on beleaguered coach Paa Kwesi’s face in the second half when he beat Bechem goalkeeper Prince Asempa with a great effort in the 69th minute.
It was a tough game but a determined performance from Kotoko ensured they claimed full spoils and in the process end their two-game winless run.
The coach and the players headed into the game under intense pressure from fans following back to back defeats and from the word go, they hustle and bustle the Hunters. Their incessant pressure produced chances but they could only convert one with less than 20 minutes remaining.
Persistence by Douglas and also Jackson meant the ball fell kindly to Emmanuel Gyamfi who made no mistake by hitting the back if the net.
Kotoko held on to their slender lead to win the match 1-0.
By virtue of the win, Kotoko move to 8th, four points behind leaders AshantiGold who have a game in hand.
