Asante Kotoko picked their first ever-point at Sogakope on match day one of the 2017/18 Ghana Premier League as they drew 1-1 with WAFA.
With an expected thrilling game, the first half lived up to the billing by giving out two goals, which eventually would be the only goals in the game.
Aminu Mohammed shot WAFA into the lead in the 3rd minute with a well taken free kick which goalkeeper, Felix Annan failed to stop. Kotoko however kept their composure and responded positively with the equalizer 15 minutes later through Yakubu Mohammed who latched onto a teasing pass by Jordan Opoku.
The home side dominated play and could have gotten three other goals but goalie, Felix Annan excellently rose to the occasion to deny WAFA. Sunday’s result was remarkable for Kotoko as they have never scored a goal or indeed earned a point at Sogakope. Their last two visits all ended in defeats.
