Founder and Leader of the defunct United Renaissance Party (URP), Kofi Wayo, has shockingly disclosed that he was looked down upon by members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) so much so that even ex-president John Agyekum Kufuor used to say “oh! Our mad friend is around” anytime he paid him a visit.

‘Chuck’, as Mr. Wayo is affectionately called, also accused the former president of apathy towards traders and farmers during his tenure.

The startlingly revelations were made in an interview the outspoken politician granted PeaceFM News.

Known for his good-natured and garrulous disposition, the oil-magnate, who was in his usual element, however, lauded the NPP for one particular good gesture; telling people that he was a pauper.

“You know, when the NPP was in power, they didn’t give me a chance; they disregarded me completely because they considered me to be insane. They even said I was broke…as a result of this I was able to save money because many people did not come to me for help,” he guffawed.

The maverick politician disclosed that he shifted camp and aligned himself with the National Democratic Congress because he realised there were individuals in the NDC who were dedicated and committed to solving problems of the citizenry.

Ask about how his party the URP is faring and what the future bodes for him, the outspoken politician declined to give any details and only stated that at the appropriate time, he will tell Ghanaians the happenings within his party.
