Kufuor Rejects Sam Jonah's Resignation

President J. A. Kufuor has refused to accept the resignation of Dr Sam Jonah as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ghana Airways. Sources close to the presidency say that over the last 18 months, Jonah has tendered his resignation thrice and been rejected thrice. The reasons for Mr. Jonah’s resignation are not clear.

Ghana Airways is heavily indebted and it was believed that under Dr Jonah’s leadership, the corporation could be revived. Dr Jonah also heads the Ashanti Goldfields Company. Dr Jonah is also Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast and serves on a UN body, which advises the Secretary-General on third world development issues.
