Aiyinase (W/R), Jan 14 GNA- National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Dr. Obed Yao Asamoah said at Aiyinase in the Nzema east district that the Kufuor administration has devalued the dignity of Ghanaians and Africans as a whole.

He was addressing party members in the Ellembelle constituency as part of a four-day tour of the Western Region, to assess the strength of the party in the region.

Dr. Asamoah explained that the late President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, fought tirelessly to seek the dignity and respect for Africans through his African personality concept.

In addition, he said Ghana has acceded to the United Nations Convention, which demands the trial of any person or group of person irrespective of their colour and nationality who are found to have committed genocide and other heinous crimes against humanity.

Dr. Asamoah regretted that although America agrees that the International Court of Justice (ICJ) tries various nationals who commit genocide and other crimes, it does not want her citizens, particularly soldiers who commit similar offences to be put before trial at the ICJ. He said strangely enough Kufuor's administration has supported the stand of America to protect the dignity of her citizens at the expense of citizens of other countries including Ghana.

Dr. Asamoah said the NPP government has further released a land at Independence Avenue in Accra to the Jesus Christ of Latter Day's Saints church, which he described as a racist institution.

On the fourth coming general elections, Dr. Asamoah charged leaders of the party to be extra vigilant and to ensure that minors are not registered as voters when the registration of voters exercise begins.

Mr. Ofosu Ampofo, Member of Parliament for Fanteakwa and the National Organiser of the party said the year 2004 is a year of action for the NDC adding that the "NDC is not dead but still alive". He said it would be disastrous for Ghanaians to give President J. A. Kufuor a second chance to govern the country.

Mr. Ampofo said Ghanaians would face many more hardships if they made a mistake to return President Kufuor to power.

He said the NPP government, has failed to use the four-year term to deliver the country from its economic mess and to make life bearable for Ghanaians.

Mr. Ampofo said good government should show sensitivity to its people and not to be insensitive to sufferers.

He stressed that the real positive change could only be brought about by the NDC and not the NPP. He therefore urged Ghanaians to vote the NDC to power.

He said the HIPC funds are not transparently being managed and therefore called on the international communities to investigate how the HIPC funds are being utilised.

Dr. Asamoah was accompanied by Dr. Josiah Ayeh, General Secretary of the party, Mr. Lee Ocran, National second vice chairman, Mrs Thabita Quaye, Western Regional vice Chairman and Mrs Edith Haizel, Member of Parliament for Evalue-Gwira as well as other high ranking officials of the party.

He also addressed party members in the Ahanta West, Tarkwa and Bogoso.
