Kufuor attends 68th session of the UN

Former President John Agyekum Kufuor left Accra Wednesday night for New York, United States, to attend the 68th Session of the United Nations.

From the UN Mr Kufuor will visit Yaoundé, Cameroun, as Leader of the African Union Election Observation Mission for the country’s parliamentary elections.

A statement issued by Mr Frank Agyekum, Spokesperson and Special Aide to the former president said at the UN, Mr Kufuor would confer with world leaders including, Mr Jan Elliason, Deputy Secretary-General of the UN and Mrs Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, President of Liberia, among others.

Mr Kufuor in his capacity as Chair of the Water and Sanitation for All Partnership will attend meetings of the UN Trusteeship Council and the UN Foundation.

As Special Global Envoy of the International Coalition of Neglected Tropical Diseases, Former President Kufuor will hold bilateral talks with partners of the Coalition with the aim of increasing funding for the eradication of the seven most neglected diseases in the tropics.

Mr Kufuor is expected back home in the first week of October.
