Mampong (Ash), Nov 1, GNA-President John Agyekum Kufuor on Sunday inaugurated a 450 million-cedi Post Office, built by the government for Asante-Mampong in the Sekyere West District, as part of his six days tour of the Ashanti Region.
Addressing a durbar of the chiefs and people, President Kufuor called for unity among the activists, supporters and sympathisers of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
He said the NPP had delivered on its campaign promises and urged the electorate to vote the Party back to power to enable it continue with the good work that it started in 2001.
Daasebre Osei Bonsu II, the Mamponghene, commended the Government for its liberal democracy, which he said, had promoted national peace and tranquillity.
The Mamponghene cherished the Government for its unprecedented inclination towards national reconstruction.
President Kufuor addressed a similar durbar at Kofiase where he pledged 500 million cedis as Government's support for infrastructural improvement at the Kofiase Seventh-Day (SDA) Secondary School.
He said other roads apart from the main Kofiase road would be rehabilitated, while electricity and water supply would be improved. Nana Amma Henewah, Queen Mother of Kofiase, lauded the Government for the socio-economic developments in all parts of the country. She appealed to all the political parties to ensure that the Presidential and Parliamentary elections were conducted in peaceful, free and fair manner.
