Kufuor leaves Accra for Malawi

Accra, May 12, GNA - Former President John Agyekum Kufuor left Accra on Monday night to Lilongwe, Malawi, to monitor the country's general elections slated May 19, this month. Mr Frank Agyekum, the former President's spokesperson, who told the Ghana News Agency on telephone, said the visit was at the invitation of the Commonwealth.

Accra, May 12, GNA - Former President John Agyekum Kufuor left Accra on Monday night to Lilongwe, Malawi, to monitor the country's general elections slated May 19, this month. Mr Frank Agyekum, the former President's spokesperson, who told the Ghana News Agency on telephone, said the visit was at the invitation of the Commonwealth. He said former President Kufuor was leading a seven-member delegation of the Commonwealth for the monitoring exercise. Mr Agyekum said Mr Kufuor would return to Ghana on May 25, 2009. Early this year, the former President led an African Union delegation to Malawi to observe the political situation in the country.
