Accra, Dec.8, GNA - Provisional results of the 2004 Presidential and Parliamentary elections held throughout the country on Tuesday December 7 had started trickling in with President John Agyekum Kufuor the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Presidential Candidate winning the Obuasi Constituency.
He received 51,558 rpt 51,558 votes, followed by his main political rival, National Democratic Congress' (NDC) Professor John Evans Atta Mills, who had 21, 405 rpt 21,405 votes, while Dr Edward Mahama of the People's National Convention (PNC) polled 655 votes and Mr George Aggudey of the Convention People's Party (CPP), 249 votes.
In the Parliamentary race Edward M Ennin of the NPP recorded 43,102 rpt 43,102 votes, Adelaide Borden, an Independent Candidate, 26,639 rpt 26,639 votes, Justice Dasah of the NDC, 4,426 rpt 4,426 votes and Michael Carr Aaron of the PNC 550 votes.
In the Tamale South Constituency Prof Mills obtained 39,801 rpt 39,801 votes to defeat President Kufuor, who had 11,917 rpt 11,917 votes while Dr Mahama had 425 votes and Mr Aggudey, 488 votes.
In the Parliamentary race Mr Haruna Iddrisu of NDC obtained 38,296 votes rpt 38, 296 votes to defeat Minister of Works and Housing and NPP Candidate Alhaji Mustapha Idris, who got 11,729 rpt 11,729 votes; Dr Abubakar Al-Hassan of CPP, 1,870 rpt 1,870 votes; Mohammed Adam Nashiru of PNC 371 rpt 371 and hajia Kande Abukari of Democratic People's Party (DPP), 248 rpt 248 votes.
