Kukurantumi: About 2,000 residents to get employed under Hay and Sillage project - Chief

About 2,000 residents of Akyem Kukurantumi in the Abuakwa north municipality of the Eastern region are expected to get employment from a Hay and Sillage Project.

The project, which will be rearing of cattle and other breeds of livestock is also expected 200 graduates to steer the affairs of the company in a deal with an Italian firm dubbed "Ghana Hay and Sillage" project.

Chief of Akyem Kukurantumi, Daasebre Boamah Darko made this known during a public forum to explain the project to the understanding of residents.

He, however, commended President Akufo-Addo for the creation of the new municipality and urged the people to remain resolute in the government.

Daasebre Boamah Darko, who is also the Adontenhene of the Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Area called on the people to embrace the project by registering to be part of the company as shareholders.

He was optimistic the building of offices and bungalows will also provide jobs for local artisans as well as labourers.

He also revealed the company will also buy farm produce from local farmers and however urged farmers to produce more now that there is a ready market.

The Adontenhene emphasized his outfit is committed to the development of the community hence would do all his best to see to the facelift of the community now that it has gotten municipal status.

Meanwhile, Rev. Asrifi Ofori, the Assemblies of God church, Kukurantumi Assembly head who is also the Steering Committee Chairman of kukurantumi Hay and Silage Limited also added that the company will not only seek the services of only people from Kukurantumi alone but also from other neighbouring communities.

He said the company will be also into the production of food crops to support what would be bought from farmers as it would be the source of food to the numerous livestock.
