Kumasi Anglican Diocesan Men's Fellowship holds 3rd Biennial Conference

Kumasi, Aug.2, GNA- Mr. Dawson Ahmoah, the National President of the Men's Fellowship of the Anglican Church, has called on the Fellowship to provide a clear, concise and prudent leadership in all aspects of the Church's life.

He said there was the need for members to recognize their responsibilities to the Church, the development of Christian personality and values within individuals and groups. Mr. Ahmoah said this in a fraternal greeting delivered on behalf of the National Executive Council of the Fellowship at the Kumasi Diocesan Men's Fellowship Third Biennial Conference held at the Saint Paul's Church at North Suntreso in Kumasi on Saturday. He emphasized that the theme for the two-day conference; "Anglican Men's Fellowship, Image of the Church", was not only appropriate at a time when the Church was seen to be at the cross roads but very unique. He noted that the importance of the conference cannot be over emphasized for it does not only afford members the opportunity to know more about each other but prepare them adequately to face the challenges of the way forward.

Mr. Ahmoah said, "image is not taken on a silver platter, it should be worked for. Image is built over a period of time with consistency, acting in unison, speaking with one voice, being at the fore-front of decision making and policy implementation. In this regard, the Fellowship in its programme of activities must improve relations with other guilds and societies.

The other area which needs concern and should be considered is the improvement of our spirituality and the exhibition of high moral conduct not relegating to the background the need to move the Church forward, he added.

The Very Reverend Isaac Kojo Anokye, Dean of the Saint Cyprian's Cathedral and Vicar-General of the Kumasi Anglican Diocese said, it was time members strive hard to unite and pray incessantly to be committed and have compassion to win more souls for Christ. He hoped their experience would serve as witness to Christ whom they diligently serve and also dedicate themselves to the task of implementing the goals that the Fellowship had set for members and the Church.

The Reverend Canon Dr. Joseph Osei, Chaplain for Anglican Community and Lecturer at College of Technology Education, Kumasi Campus of the University of Education, Winneba stressed that the Fellowship needed support, plan and direction from the Church in order to provide effective leadership roles in the Church. He said the establishment of an age policy based organization would go a long way to help in the systematic development of shared responsibility in the Church.

He asked them to let their family lives be exemplary, adding that the love and commitment they had for one and another in the Church must be extended to people outside the Church and the community.
