Two men who belong to a group called Gonja Boys, believed to have been terrorizing the people of Kwadaso, Asuoyeboah, Tanoso, Apatrapa and its environs in the Ashanti Region, are in the web of the law enforcement agents.

The Kumasi police have described the arrest of Isaac Adu, popularly called Oneside and Kwadwo Amoah, who is also nicknamed Street Killer, as a major breakthrough in the fight against robbery in the city of Kumasi, the regional capital.

They were said to have robbed two khebab sellers – Asimoglo Kwadwo and Ngubra Abel – of amounts of GHc 370 and GHc 400 respectively, at about 9:45 pm on May 20, 2015 and went into hiding.

DCOP Kofi Boakye, the regional police commander, addressing the media, said Kwadwo and Abel initially refused to heed the stern order of their attackers to surrender every valuable thing on them, thereby resulting in a struggle between them and the robbers.

In the course of the struggle, he disclosed, the two Gonja Boys pulled a locally manufactured pistol and a sharp knife, which they used to inflict severe wounds on Kwadwo and Abel before fleeing with their monies.

DCOP Kofi Boakye said the robbery was reported to the Abuakwa police who mounted a search for Oneside and Street Killer, whom they finally nabbed from their hideouts recently.

The police chief said Oneside, whilst in police custody, was identified by a different person who visited the police station to lodge a complaint, as the one who attacked him and stole his Samsung Galaxy Note 4 mobile phone.

The Ashanti Regional police commander, who expressed joy over the arrest of the Gonja Boys, said the two suspects were being processed to appear before the Nkawie circuit court.

DCOP Kofi Boakye implored residents of the region to continually feed the police with information about the illegal operations of criminals so that the police would arrest them from their hideouts.
