Mr Walid Chadrawy, Manager of the Kumasi Factory of the Latex Foam Manufacturing Company, has won gold at the 3rd Ashanti Business Leaders Excellence Awards held in Kumasi.
The event, organized by Top Brass Ghana Limited, under the auspices of the Manhyia Palace, was basically to honour individuals in the Ashanti Business Community whose sterling leadership qualities have brought progress and development to their entities and the region as a whole.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency in an exclusive interview after the function in Kumasi, Mr Chadrawy described the initiative of the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu the Second, as laudable and a morale-booster for leaders of the business community in the region.
He said the mother company in Accra was incorporated on March 8, 1969, to produce quality foam products for the bedding and furniture industry; and from a humble beginning the company now has depots throughout the country, and is the oldest and leading manufacturer of quality foam products in Ghana and West Africa.
According to Mr Chadrawy, the Kumasi factory was established in 1996 and since then the company has made great gains hence the award.
He mentioned education, health, environment and sports as some of the numerous areas that his company has given massive support as part of its social responsibilities.
Mr Chadrawy, a former Ashanti Regional Chairman of the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) , also won the prestigious Africa Prize for Transformational Leadership (Garden City), in September 2010 by the Global Transformational Leadership Group, for his exemplary leadership qualities, which has brought development to mankind.
“What an exciting moment to win leadership gold award on the very day of my birthday. I feel so great,” he exclaimed.
The Latex Foam Manager commended his hardworking staff, customers and all stakeholders for their immense contributions to his great achievement, and urged them to keep up the spirit.
