Kumasi, Nov. 21, GNA - Kumasi Polytechnic has admitted 3,480 new students for the 2008/2009 academic year. The number, made up of 2,162 men and 1,318 women, will study courses such as Applied Science, Business and Management Studies, Entrepreneurship and Enterprise Development as well as Engineering. Dr. Benjamin Eric Kwesi Prah, Rector of the polytechnic, said this at the 16th matriculation of the polytechnic held in Kumasi on Thursday. He said out of the 5,046 who applied, only 3,480 gained admission due to inadequate infrastructure and advised the students to grab the opportunity to be responsible in order to make their lives productive, fulfilling and enjoyable. Dr. Prah appealed to the new students to combine sporting activities with studies for a sound mind and body by joining the sports section of the polytechnic. He advised them to avoid uncouth behaviour, unbridled sexual lives, alcoholism, drug abuse, offensive dressing among others to ensure peace on campus.
