The Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) of the Ghana Police Service has warned motorists against insecure loading and other traffic offenses that lead to road accidents.
The Department has observed the insecure loading of passengers and goods by commercial and private drivers, which is to blame for some of the recently recorded accidents and is asking them to desist from the illegal practice on roads.
Therefore a stern warning has been issued, that is promising to arrest and prosecute offenders before any law court to serve as deterrent to anyone who will go contrary to the rules and regulations of the road traffic law.
Regional Commander, DCOP Ken Yeboah disclosed that drivers, passengers and pedestrians are to be protected from avoidable accidents.
The Regional Commander vowed to curb avoidable accidents that normally occur due to negligence of drivers and other road users.
DCOP Yeboah also warned drivers taking the vulnerability of passengers to charge unapproved fares during rush hours to quit it and asked the people to report drivers and their mates to police for action to be taken against them.
The commander promised to deploy enough number of plain and uniformed personnel on roads to check all form of crimes on roads to eradicate accidents completely.
