President John Mahama has replaced the Works and Housing Minister with the newly created power minister in his cabinet, a new list of cabinet ministers submitted to Parliament by the Presidency Tuesday said.
The development means Dr Kwabena Donkor will now attend cabinet meetings in place of Alhaji Collins Dauda.
The minority has raised questions over the number of ministers forming the President’s cabinet. They have accused the President of abusing the constitution by having more than the prescribed number of ministers in his cabinet.
The Member of Parliament for Effutu, Alex Afenyo Markin was the first the raised alarm over the matter.
He argued that the current number of cabinet ministers since the appointment of the Power Minister, contradicts Article 76(1) of the 1992 Constitution, which determines the number of ministers that must sit in the cabinet.
