Mr. Kwabena Agyemang-Badu, Board Chairman of Kwabre Senior High School (SHS) at Akuma in the Nkoranza Municipality has appealed to the Municipal Assembly to relieve the school of its numerous infrastructural challenges.

Mr. Agyemang-Badu made the appeal at a joint meeting of the Board and the Management of the Nkoranza Municipal Assembly at Nkoranza in the Brong-Ahafo Region on Monday.

He said apart from low tension poles for extension of electricity, there was the need for the construction of a bore-hole to save the students from walking long distances in search of water.

Mr. Agyemang-Badu commended the family of the late Mr. Benjamin Mensah Opoku, a famous Agriculturist from Akuma for releasing 60 acres of land for the permanent site of the school, and the provision of temporary accommodation facilities for the staff and the students.

He recalled the late Opoku’s hard work, especially in maize production which earned him a contract by the government of the Second Republic to supply maize to feed the nation.

Mr. Agyemang-Badu announced that the Government had started putting up some infrastructural facilities at the new site, hence the need for the Assembly to provide amenities such as electricity and potable water system to pave way for intake of more students for the school.

Madam Stella Amoatemaa, Nkoranza Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), was grateful to the Board of Governors for their hard-work and efforts particularly for initiating a number of projects to develop the school.

Mr. Godfred Axolu, Nkoranza Municipal Director of Education, encouraged Management of Kwabre SHS to ensure the documentation of the school lands and also plant trees at the boundaries to avoid encroachment by developers.
