Former Black Stars coach Kwesi Appiah revealed that Kwadwo Asamoah has been going through some on-pitch issues which have limited his performance.

He was expected to be the next shining star when he helped the Black Stars to the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations in Angola.

After those initial fine performances for the Black Stars, the player was handed the iconic number 10 jersey in the hope that he will take up after the legendary Abedi Pele.

But those expectations have hardly been met, with Asamoah going in and out of the Black Stars.

A few months ago, Asamoah returned from one of his self-imposed exile from the national team but even that hasn’t seen him rediscover his old form.

The former national team coach claims the player had his problems, including injuries, which left him no option than not to rely on other players after his return.

“He had a lot of issues that people don’t know about. He wanted to serve his country. He had an injury and that has bothered him. Even now he has to take some injections before he comes to the field.
