Kwahu-Ridge Sec/Tech. spends 10 million cedis on water

Obo-Kwahu (E/R), June 29, GNA - The Kwahu Ridge Secondary Technical School spent 10 million cedis to purchase water from private tanker operators last term, following an acute water shortage that hit communities on the Kwahu Ridge due to the break down of machines at the Kotoso Water Works.

To forestall any future occurrence, the old students association of the school have bought a mechanized pump to rehabilitate a borehole at the cost of 12 million cedis to ensure regular supply of water to the school.

Mr George Agyare, the Headmaster of the school said this at the Parent-Teacher-Association (PTA) meeting at the school, where the PTA presented a 23-seater Benz bus, worth 155.5 million cedis to the school. He urged parents to educate their wards to study to avoid malpractices during their internal and external examinations, since the school had a good record in the conduct of examinations.

Rev. Dr. Alex Obeng, the Chairman of the PTA, said the bus was purchased with PTA dues of 70,000 per a term for four terms. He said the PTA should had bought a bigger bus but the Ghana Education Service did not allow them to levy 100,000 cedis from the students and also the failure of some parents to pay their levies. Dr. Alex Obeng said when the association is able to raise adequate funds, the bus would be sold to purchase a bigger one.
