Kwahu kingmakers ‘duped’ a nominated candidate GHC 365,000

It has emerged that some Kingmakers of the Abene Traditional Council, allegedly duped a nominated candidate for the Kwahu Omanhene stool, Odehye Kwadwo Annor, over GHC365,000 under the pretext that they, including the Kwahu Queen mother, had accepted him to ascend the then-vacant Kwahu Omanhene Stool.

The enstoolment of a new Kwahumanhene following the demise of Daasebre Akuamoah Boateng has degenerated into a chieftaincy dispute with more than four candidates contesting.

Two of the candidates, Prof. Agyemang Badu Akorsah and Eugene Kwasi Asante Boadi (embattled Kwahumanhene, Daasebre Akuamoah Boateng) were both installed in a dramatic fashion as Omanhene. Determination of the case is pending in Court and Regional House of Chiefs.

However, in an affidavit in support of a motion for Judicial Review per Certiorari and Prohibition filed at the Nkawkaw High Court, the head of Royal family Opanyin Kwabena Boateng of Abetifi Kyemase said “sometimes in 2014, an uncontestable Royal candidate in the person of Odehye Kwadwo Annor was put up among others to contest the current Vacant Kwahu Abene Stool and eventually got nominated by the Abene Council which has a final say in enstoolment of Kwahu Amanhene, sometimes in 2017.”

He said due to this ” an amount of Ghc350,000 was demanded and collected from our nominated candidate within one week by the Krontihene, the Banmuhene and the Akyeamehene all of the Abene Council in the person of Nana Simple Owiredu II, Nana Kwadwo Ntim and Nana Asiedu Kwabena respectively.”

He added that Odehye Annor was made to wait at Abetifi by the Krontihene and his cohorts for his enstoolment as Kwahumanehene, however, the Kingmaker swerved him and met in cahoots at the Residence of Adehyehene, Nana Odomanteng Kesse III, at Nkwatia -Kwahu.

This was clandestinely done to allegedly nominate, elect and work to install, Eugene Kwasi Asante -Boadi as Kwahumanhene with stool name Daasebre Akuamoah Kwasi Agyemang, in the absence of the Kwahu Queen mother who is customarily mandated to nominate a candidate for the stool.

Reliefs Being Sought

Document of the Motion for Judicial Review per Certiorari and Prohibition filed at the Nkawkaw Court and cited by Kasapa News, wants :

a) .A declaration that the purported nomination,election and enstoolment of candidate Eugene Kwasi Asante -Boadi as Omanhene of the Kwahu Traditional Area is Null and Void and of no legal effect, having regard to the circumstances.

b) .An order quashing and bringing up for purposes of quashing per certiorari, the said purported nomination ,election and enstoolment of candidate Eugene Kwasi Asante -Boadi as the Omanhene of Kwahu Traditional Area on ground of nullity.

C). A declaration that Eugene Kwasi Asante -Boadi occupation of Kwahu Omanhene’s Palace at Abene is not only illegal but also sacrilegious in tradition and custom and most unwarranted in Law and that same must be quashed.

d).A Consequential Order compelling Kwahumanhene to vacant the Palace at Kwahu Abene forthwith, to abide the final determination of the above named matter.

e) . An Order of prohibition prohibiting candidate Eugene Kwasi Asante Boadi from carrying himself as out as Omanhene of the Kwahu Traditional area in any manner whatsoever.

Above all, the Last relief (h) An Order of Perpetual Injunction restraining all respondents ,their personal representatives, agents and or assigns from interfering in any manner whatsoever with applicant’s claim to the Kwahumanhene’s stool, Abene.
